Senegal

Launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition (METE) and the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines (MEPM), the first phase of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways (DDP) initiative in Senegal strengthened national technical and institutional capacities to develop long-term low-carbon and climate-resilient development pathways. Building on these achievements, ENDA continues by producing macroeconomic and energy analyses of future development pathways, working closely with national institutions and local stakeholders to inform evidence-based climate and development planning.

HIGHLIGHTS

National policy work

  • JETP: The project was able to provide information regarding possible renewable energy targets to the JETP negotiations, thereby contributing to the conclusion of the JETP agreement with an ambitious target for renewable energy development in the country.
  • LTV: The project is currently providing inputs to the drafting of the Long-Term Vision in Senegal, via a process to bring together a wide range of stakeholders to design this long term development vision. The team at ENDA also work in close cooperation with the government around the elaboration of the LTV itself, via a project financed by the 2050 Platform.
